Train your employees enough that other employers can offer them double salary but treat them well enough they don't want to leave youAs we know, everybody need mentally comfort in their employment but in retail sales there are lot of challenges to survive and achieve career goals. Organizations are still working on making and innovating smart ways to improve performance management at their workplace.No doubt,In Retail sector there is also a high attrition rate.There are some issues in retail sector that's why employees leave organizations after some time.Some facts are below.
Low Salary Bracket
- Sales Crew always match their salaries to market level and if they find good salary and commissions , they move .
- Commissions play an important role in retail sales.
- Solution; Organization should pay at market level because there's a lot of people who count monthly salaries more preferable over other company benefits.
No Long Term Benefits
Employees want to get relaxation and comfort in their future because they struggle every day to achieve organization targets and if they found an organization who cares of their struggle and gives additional benefits to encourage them then why they leave.- Solution;Health or Medical insurance for employees and their families because people remember those who helped them in their brainstorm problems.
- Every employee want to save money for future but their expenses don't let them to do so.At this stage, Employees need Provident fund as auto saving for future.
- Leaves encashment and yearly bonuses are also attractive for not to leave.
Discrimination
- I believe Discrimination is a crime in workplace or it happens outside too.There's a hierarchy within a retail store but sometimes due to untrained staff we noticed discrimination mainly happens due to it.Sometimes senior staff directly degrade junior instead of train them.
- Discrimination directly degrades and hit the potential.Due to self respect and to avoid discrimination,people start to leave organizations.It penetrates the whole culture of organization.
- It all happens because of undefined rules and regulations to every single employee.
- Solution; Organizations should frequently do trainings at the workplace and focusing on this issue to make sure that everybody is well aware of it and take every step to avoid it.
Weak Knowledge of Retail Manuals
Retail Manual is a key to success of any retail organization because employees need guidance or training for their skill development and also they need to rules and regulations to work efficiently.
- Solution; Organization should train their staff frequently with their Organization's Manuals.
- Staff will be aware of the restrictions and limitations.
Conspiracy
Conspiracy produces insecurity in employees mind so they think that they should move on before company fired them.So they take step and left organizations with no reasons but just a mentally misunderstanding that happened due to environmental activities.
- Solution; Organization should focus on Glassdoor transparency in retail stores.
- Manager must give equal significance to all sub-ordinates to avoid any job insecurity in their mind.
- Personal Interaction and Process Culturing are very important in retail to make employment motivated and oriented.
Injustice or Favoritism
Injustice or favoritism sometimes compromised by the employees but not at all.If they take a stand on it and find no justice then they will leave.No one can continuously see favoritism in their environment.
- Solution;Make sure that every employee participating in company's bottom line or top line.
- Give equal significance to every employee.
No Career Path No Retention
Problems associated with careers are Lack of career advancement opportunities, Lack of career growth and career path planning for employees.
- Employees can't do same work over the years, they get bored and even hopeless when they find no career path, so they will think to move on to grow their career and they'll leave soon.
- Solution;Make a Career Progression Chart. By developing employee career paths and ladders, an organization can hold them with it for long years.
- Career Path Planning is very important because i believe Organization's growth depends on employees growth.Growth includes both skill development and career development.
